Walpen, Armin
Director General, SRG SSR idée Suisse. From 1980 to 1988 Mr Walpen was the head of the Radio
and Television Service in the Swiss Government. Since 1996 Mr Walpen has serv ed as Director General of the Swiss Broadcasting
Corporation. Over the years Mr Walpen has lectured in broadcasting law at the University of Fribourg, authored and
co-edited a series of publications dealing with the mass media.

Wessberg, Arne
Director General of YLE and President of the EBU. Mr Wessberg began his career in broadcasting as an economics correspondent
for Finnish television YLE TV 2. After a
period as a producer on the same channel, he was appointed Director of YLE TV 1 and then of YLE TV 2, a post which he held until he
became Director General. During 1982-85 he was Chairman of Nordvision, from 1986-93 Deputy Chairman of the EBU TV Programme Committee, and from 1994-98 a member of the EBU Administrative Council.

White, Aidan
Secretary-General, International Federation of Journalists
In 1987, Mr White joined the International Federation of Journalists from The Guardian and has since worked for leading regional and national newspapers in Britain. Mr White has been an active trades unionist and at present campaigns for the rights of journalists worldwide. He is an international consultant on press rights and journalistic ethics and has produced reports for UNESCO, the ILO, the United Nations Human Rights Commission, the Council of Europe, and the European Union.

Wolton, Dominique
M.Wolton est Directeur du Laboratoire "Information, communication, enjeux scientifiques". Il a fondé et dirige la Revue internationale
"Hermès", qui a pour objectif d’étudier de manière interdisciplinaire la communication, dans ses rapports avec les individus,
les techniques, les cultures, les sociétés. Il dirige également la collection " Communication " qu’il a créée en 1998 (CNRS Editions).
Son domaine de recherche concerne, au travers de très nombreux ouvrages, l’analyse des rapports entre culture, communication, société et
politique.

Yushkiavitshus, Henrikas
UNESCO Adviser to the Director General. Mr Yushkiavitshus first worked at the Lithuanian Television Center (1960-1966),
until he became the Director of the Technical Center at the Inter national Radio and Television Organization (OIRT – Intervision)
in Prague during 1966. From 1971 to 1990, he occupied the post of Vice- Chairman of the USSR State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting. In 1990, Mr Yushkiavitshus entered UNESCO as Assistant Director General, where he worked on the promotion of press freedom, media pluralism as well a s strengthening communication capacities in developing countries.

Ziegler, Jean
Rapporteur Spécial de la Commission des Droits de l’Homme des Nations Unies. M.Ziegler a mené une car rière
académique à Genève, notamment en Faculté de Sociologie et à l’Institut Universitaire d’Etudes du Développement.
Il est également actif sur l’arène politique, et a assuré des mandats au Parlement Suisse comme Conseiller National. Il a écrit de nombreuses publications sur la problématique du développement, dont "La faim dans le monde racontée à mon fils", et "Le droit à l’alimentation".
